Therapist

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

Ironwood is committed to helping families in crisis with teens who struggle by prioritizing positive relationship development and a multidisciplinary collaborative approach to treatment. Individualized treatment plans include intensive therapeutic and behavioral interventions, group work, physical exercise, outdoor-based experiences, and a variety of enrichment programs including equestrian, art, culinary, horticulture, and nature therapy studies. At Ironwood we use the three C’s in our therapeutic model: Cultivate self awareness and respect; Collaborate through engaging residents to be part of their therapeutic planning; Connect residents to themselves, their Ironwood community, and their families through teaching them the power of their mind-body connection.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Qualified candidates who can work within a team of professionals, as well as manage a caseload of up to 8 students who are engaged in all aspects of the program. Ironwood functions within a treatment team model, assessing and supporting students as a multi-disciplinary team. This position requires strong communication skills, thoughtful organization, the ability to multitask, and most importantly someone who is able to form healthy connections with adolescents and adults alike. This position is located on campus, with limited remote work by permission only.

POSITION FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establishes positive, trusting rapport with residents, parents and referral sources
  • Diagnoses and treats mental health disorders
  • Develops individualized master treatment plans and updates every 90 days
  • Develops new admission evaluations including but not limited to the following:
  • Biopsychosocial
  • Master Treatment Plan
  • Crisis Plan
  • Behavior Support Plan
  • Provides weekly individual counseling and treatment
  • Facilitates weekly family therapy sessions that focuses on family systems/reunification
  • Evaluates, measures and records resident progress
  • Reviews daily behavioral progress notes and weekly academic progress notes
  • Attends psychiatric medication consultations
  • Refers residents to outside specialists or agencies when necessary
  • Follows all safety protocols and maintains client confidentiality
  • Communicates student’s progress with parents and referral source
  • Facilitates clinical groups as assigned by the clinical director
  • Works with the other departments to create a well rounded therapeutic environment
  • Attends and participates in a weekly clinical and caseload treatment team meetings
  • Meets with clinical supervisor at least weekly for formal supervision meetings
  • Participates and contributes to quarterly Family Connect activities and sessions
  • Additional tasks & responsibilities as assigned, depending on caseload

  • Must be able to apply established protocols in a timely manner

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in social work, clinical or educational psychology, psychiatry or other related field, with current Maine State License requires; fully licensed a plus.
  • Experience working with adolescents in a treatment center milieu required
  • Must be able to pass extensive background checks, including fingerprinting
  • 3 years experience in direct service to children and adolescents, preferably as a clinician, or comparable experience.
  • Current CPR, Safety-Care, First-Aid Certifications a plus

FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Type: Salary
Starting Pay Range: Conditional License ~ $62,000 -$65,000
Licensed ~ $70,000 – $75,000+ depending on experience

Behavioral Health Worker (BHW) or Behavioral Health Professional (BHP)

POSITION SUMMARY:

Qualified candidates are individuals that are motivated to have a positive impact in the lives of teenagers. The BHW/BHP is an integral member of the Ironwood team. Core responsibilities include: building rapport with residents within appropriate professional boundaries; creating opportunities for residents to rediscover values and develop skills to cope with challenges; helping students develop a relationship with the natural world and learn how to get along with others in healthy and cooperative ways; evaluating the results of students’ choices; and encouraging residents to develop improved strategies and problem-solving skills.

  • Actively participates in training, supervision, and professional development.
  • Maintain program expectations and encourage healthy growth in our residents.
  • Review and maintain familiarity with student notes and record daily observations.
  • Oversight of daily routines including, but not limited to: meals, chores, school, and enrichment activities.
  • Maintain 100% supervision at all times, providing constant emotional and physical support to students.
  • Respond to program, behavioral, and medical needs in accordance with Ironwood policies and procedures.

Overnight Behavioral Health Worker (OBHW)

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY:

Individualized treatment plans include intensive therapeutic and behavioral interventions, group work, physical exercise, outdoor-based experiences, and a variety of enrichment programs including equestrian, art, culinary,
horticulture, and nature therapy studies. At Ironwood we use the three C’s in our therapeutic model: Cultivate self awareness and respect; Collaborate through engaging residents to be part of their therapeutic planning; Connect residents to themselves, their Ironwood community, and their families through teaching them the power of their mind-body connection.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Qualified candidates are individuals that are motivated to have a positive impact in the lives of teenagers. The OBHW is an integral member of the Ironwood team. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring the health and safety of residents throughout the evening and overnight. The OBHW position works closely with our daytime BHWs to support residents through the transitions of their morning and evening
routines, by building rapport with residents within appropriate professional boundaries; creating opportunities for residents to rediscover values and develop skills to cope with challenges; helping students develop a relationship with the natural world and learn how to get along with others in healthy and cooperative ways; evaluating the results of students’ choices; and encouraging residents to develop improved strategies and
problem-solving skills.

POSITION FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participate and contribute in training and continued professional development
  • Remain awake, alert and responsive to the needs of the residents throughout the shift
  • Monitoring security cameras throughout the overnight hours
  • Assist residents with daily activities such as preparing for the day, cleaning and cooking
  • Work in conjunction with the days staff team in the milieu at the end of day and/or beginning of day
  • Provide routine bunk checks according to program procedure
  • Update templates for residents’ daily notes
  • Document residents’ progress and any changes in daily notes
  • Review and maintain familiarity with residents individual plans
  • Report significant health or behavioral issues to the on-call manager
  • Provide crisis intervention and access emergency services as needed
  • Maintain program expectations and encourage healthy growth in our residents
  • Maintain 100% supervision at all times, providing constant emotional and physical support to students
  • Respond to program, behavioral and medical needs in accordance with Ironwood policies and procedures
  • Ensure the well-being and safety of residents throughout their entire shift
  • Communicate with Overnight BHW Manager regarding any safety concerns, facility issues, or resident needs
