My name is Matt Littlefield and I serve as the Academic Director at Ironwood. I was raised in Waldo County and graduated from Mount View High School in Thorndike. Still not completely sure which drumbeat I wanted to follow after receiving my BA in History from the University of Maine, I spent many years traveling and exploring where my path would lead. These experiences led me to Monhegan Island, Beaver County Colorado, Brunswick, ME, and eventually back home to Waldo County.
Since returning home, I earned my special education teaching certification and have taught in two local public schools for the last 16 years. During this time, I have also earned my Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of Maine. This has allowed me to obtain administrative certifications in two areas (general and special education).
Outside of education, I enjoy spending time with my family, walks with my dog, bicycling, golf, and playing music. I am truly excited to be part of the Ironwood team as we all forever continue to grow and learn. My favorite quote is: ”To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
