Hello, my name is Maria Orlova. I was born and lived in Russia before moving to the states. My travels and experiences nurtured in me a fascination with human nature, health, and the adolescent’s quest. Since high school, I have worked with children and teens in private and public settings from the casual to the therapeutic. I am certified as a Yoga Instructor since 2003. I am also trained in Waldorf Education. My movement arts background includes years of New England– ranked athletics, dance and multi-media performance. I teach ongoing classes for children, teens and adults at studios and schools in midcoast Maine. Currently, I am working to complete my degree in Social Work from the University of Maine.
At Ironwood, staff connect with and guide youth through challenging transitions in a natural setting, with a dynamic team of human and animal helpers. In developing the fitness program, I have been inspired by the combination of progressive leadership, supportive staff and most importantly, the youth who are so responsive to learning and healing. |
