Hello, my name is John Slamin. I was born and raised in the Belfast area of mid-coast Maine. I have been married for 20 years and have two teenage daughters. I spent over two decades building ships for the U.S. Navy at Bath Iron Works. My real passion for the last 22 years has been working closely with teens through my local church. I have been involved with all aspects of teen ministry including camp counselor for several youth camps, leadership roles in numerous youth functions, as well as individual counseling. It was my absolute joy to join the team here at Ironwood Therapeutic School. I tell all the resident teens at Ironwood that every single staff member is here for one reason only -- you. And that’s the truth. My goal is to help each student realize that their life has purpose and meaning. It is my honor to work with, and protect every child sent here. Ironwood truly is a life-changing experience. My favorite saying is “It’s another beautiful day!”
