Ironwood School Staff

Derik Saucier
Behavior Specialist
My name is Derik Saucier, I was born and grew up in the Waterville, Maine area. I have a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies, from the University of Maine at Farmington; and a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of New England. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, watching and playing sports like ice hockey and baseball (though I'm not very good at either.)

I have spent much of my professional career working with students that were in a special education setting either as a teacher, para-professional or as a behavior specialist for other agencies. Though new to Ironwood, I feel that that the staff and treatment team has a strong view of working with students to help them see how their actions have an impact on themselves and others around them.

I chose the positions that I have had in my career as a way to make a difference in the lives of young people. I feel that my joining Ironwood will allow me to continue to make a difference in the transformation of troubled teens. It is my goal to be the guide and structure, to allow our students to own their actions and learn from them. I like to see the students that I have worked with in the past, accept what has happened for good or bad and as Walt Disney stated, “Keep Moving Forward.”
