Hello! My name is Caseylin Gillis. I grew up on the coast of southern Maine and just recently migrated to beautiful Belfast. Before I became a yoga teacher, I was a Case Manager for many years at a homeless shelter that served both youth and adults. After that, I went on to work as a counselor at a residential treatment center for women struggling with drug and alcohol addiction. It was there that I began teaching yoga and those classes sparked in me a desire to fuse my two passions: social work and yoga.
As often as I can, I attend trainings and workshops to further my skills and knowledge about the benefits of yoga in the areas of trauma, addiction, chronic pain, anxiety, and every day stress. The yoga program at Ironwood teaches our youth how to focus with breath, quiet the mind, have patience with ourselves and others, create mental flexibility, maintain physical health and most importantly, how to live in the present moment. I am honored to be part of such a therapeutic program! |
